Lead where you are.

Monday, 23 January, 2012

"Lead where you are" is the inspirational tag-line of Willow Creek's annual Global Leadership Summit. It cuts straight through our objections, excuses and insecurities and invites us to do what we can with what we have today, rather than sit & wait for that important breakthrough in the future.

Some leaders hold official leadership positions, others exercise influence without a title. This doesn't necessarily mean that everyone's a leader. But it does mean that, in as much as you offer anything positively distinctive in your convictions or words or actions or reactions, you inevitably carry an impact. Your impact may appear significant & visible, or indirect & inconspicuous, but either way, your efforts can be meaningful and worthwhile.

Not all our efforts lead to breathtaking successes. What if that's OK? And what if some of our best leadership moments happen when we're simply faithful and intentional in being and doing our best with what we've been given - right where we are?
